MAYFAIR Hotels & Resorts

For MAYFAIR Hotels & Resorts, ‘Together We Work and Together We Grow’ is a guiding dictum that has helped in nurturing and developing an intricate bond between their employees and the brand. In our initial interaction with employees, when the pandemic was still in the nascent stage, I had personally conveyed to them the gravity of the situation, asking them to prepare themselves for small sacrifices if the need arises. I share this with a sense of great fulfilment that almost all of our employees volunteered to help the company during the hour of crisis. And though the situation has started improving, we must say that as a group, even during the unparalleled crisis, we left no one behind. No retrenchment has been done by the company and neither has anyone been sent on furlough. As we enter Unlock 4, we endeavour to ensure that our practices stay in conformity with the highest standards of safety and hygiene for our guests, business partners and associates. We are strategizing our marketing and sales activities
in light of the changes that this pandemic has enforced to regain the pre-COVID business by March 2021. As soon as we are back on our feet, we shall resume our expansion plans with a larger goal of establishing a robust presence across the country by 2025.”

Power List 2020: MAYFAIR Hotels & Resorts

MAYFAIR Hotels & Resorts began receiving cancellations from March 24, 2020. The cancellation of bookings for almost 5000 room nights told them that the crisis that the hospitality sector faced was going to be difficult.

The group launched its Financial Prudence Programme; resort managers were instructed to reduce the operational costs and evolve efficient cost-cutting strategies to offset the ensuing revenue losses. Some of the group’s measures were a means to support their employees, who continued to receive their salary.

This apart, another kind of assistance such as travel facilities to return to their hometown, rations for in-station employees or any assistance sought was proactively extended. Beyond their team, all MAYFAIR Hotels & Resorts undertook relief measures such as ration and food packets to needy families, especially labourers deprived of their livelihood, in their immediate neighbourhood.

Around 65 employees of Odisha- based hotels, on deputation for pre-opening of MAYFAIR Tea Resort at Siliguri in West Bengal, were stuck during the lockdown. Swain ensured that their families were looked after well.

Apart from keeping the morale and motivation of all employees high, Swain informed each employee on the latest development, updated them on all health precautions and assured them of support. He helped them enroll in various online professional courses for skill development.
