Panchshil Realty
Hundreds of thousands of daily wage earners have been left with absolutely no source of income and are struggling with even basic needs such as food. To offer some immediate relief, the Panchshil Foundation has begun distributing food hampers amongst the impacted communities. Similarly, medical personnel treating COVID-19 patients need more PPE kits and the Foundation will start providing them with these kits soon. I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation to the NDRF’s 5th Battalion, Pune for joining hands with us to educate vulnerable populations on how to stay safe. I want to acknowledge the support and contributions received from our corporate occupiers, associates and individual clients, too.
Panchsil Realty, through its hospitality arm, collaborated with local authorities on several community and CSR initiatives to deal with COVID’s impact.
Among the initiatives:
- Collaboration with the Pune Municipal Corporation to set up a 314-Bed COVID Care Facility. The ready superstructure of six floors, spanning around 48,000sq.ft, has been built entirely by Panchshil Realty as part of C2 Reservation Development.
- Panchshil Foundation has re-purposed the interiors of the entire building as per guidelines and is providing the necessary medical infrastructure and equipment such as: Oxygen piping of two kilometers for the entire facility along with allied essential equipment including oxygen storage and 44 ICU beds with necessary medical equipment, including air conditioning for the entire ICU section.
- Panchshil Realty also launched a three-pronged CSR initiative to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.
- The group partnered with Force Motors to distribute 15k PPE kits to hospitals in Pune.

This is a moment for us to unite in the efforts to make each other stronger and braver to face the days ahead. I am thankful to JW Marriott Pune, The Ritz-Carlton, Courtyard by Marriott Pune and The Marriott Suites Pune for their collaboration with Panchshil Foundation to ensure timely distribution of food hampers. Let’s be more vigilant and take adequate measures to remain healthy and forge ahead with our support or the healthcare systems, so we can open the doors to welcome and create happy memories.
Nitin Kamalakar Wankhade, Panchshil Foundation
A team led by Nitin Kamalakar Wankhade helped distribute food hampers with essential ration materials to labourers located in neighbourhoods such as Munduwa, Wadgaonsheri, Vimanangar, Vishrantwadi, Kharadi, Wagholi and Balewadi.
The ration were packed at JW Marriott, collected by his team and then distributed to over 3500 labourers. An awareness programme, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Unit Pune, tutored the vulnerable population about the protocols that need to be followed. “Do not be afraid of coronavirus, practice social distancing, maintain hygiene and report immediately if you show any symptoms,” says Kamalakar, who worked through the last five months to help fellow citizens.
Syed Zohair Abbas, Panchshil Foundation
Syed Zohair Abbas had an emotional breakdown when he witnessed a kid on the roadside starving for several days and decided to do what he can to help. He took on the job of distributing ration to 500 labourers with Panchshil Foundation. He fed stray animals with the help of ResQ NGO under Neha Panchamiya and distributed water and other cold beverages to the police force in Hinjewadi Phase 1.
He helped several labourers to get back to their villages by paying for the railway tickets from his pocket. Before they let, he conducted a protocol awareness camp. Abbas was pleased to note that they had reached their homes safe and tested negative. “True that this novel virus is inevitable, but if I cannot help my brethren during this crucial situation, I will be ashamed to see my country suffering!” he says.
