Hyatt Hotels
The world as we knew it has fundamentally changed by COVID-19 and we at Hyatt are continuing to evolve as we listen and seek to understand what’s most important to our communities. As people have begun travelling again, we are ensuring that every Hyatt colleague and guest feel confident that each aspect of our commitment is designed with their safety and wellbeing as a priority. To this end, we have critically evaluated the hotel experience from each vantage point and reimagined it to offer our guests and members greater control of their hotel journey. Our Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment is a significant expression of our purpose to care for people. Our goal is to emerge from this crisis by setting the industry standard for hospitality, hygiene, safety and luxury.”
Hyatt Hotels were quick to respond to the crisis by providing accommodation to guests who were stranded in the country and various cities when the lockdown was announced. Many were already staying at Hyatt’s several properties and were unable to return home.
Hyatt provided accommodation to first responders—doctors and police personnel— across cities. Hyatt Hotels have been providing accommodation to the Indians flying back on the Vande Bharat mission flights and to the crew. Each hotel has been working with local communities to support them by dispensing sanitisers, masks and meals. The Hyatt Care Fund is designed to support colleagues with the most pressing financial needs due to COVID-19. The salary reductions taken by senior leadership team members globally helped launch the fund, along with donations from Hyatt Hotels Foundation and Pritzker family foundations, and helped provide financial relief to their employees across the world.
On the operations front, Hyatt Hotels adopted innovative measures to ensure guests could experience their hotels from the comfort of their homes by launching home deliveries, including do-it-yourself meal boxes for guests to assemble at home. The backbone of all these initiatives is the focus on safety and wellbeing of colleagues and guests during the COVID-19 pandemic, by implementing the Global Care & Cleanliness Commitment. This includes Global Biorisk Advisory Council accreditation, hotel-level sanitization specialists and a working group of trusted medical and industry advisors.
Hyatt Hotels have collaborated with medical experts from Cleveland Clinic among other trusted medical and industry advisors to fine-tune reopening and operating procedures such as colleague reorientations, enhanced cleaning and safety protocols.
