Radisson Hotel Group

The key factor that helped Radisson Hotel Group through this difficult time is the trust and continued support of our guests, employees and owners. Besides contributing millions of meals and assisting healthcare workers at local levels, some of our partners contributed significant funds independently. It is our privilege to have such partnerships that work for the collective good of the society and the country. We are grateful to the government and various
trade bodies to have supported our requests for relief measures on behalf of the entire industry. I am confident that such camaraderie combined with the ethos of selfless service and genuine hospitality will enable the industry to transcend this challenge.”

Power List 2020: Radisson Hotel Group

Radisson Hotel Group believes hospitality is much more than a business. At its core lies the art of service and the quest for purpose-driven engagement. As India braves through the COVID-19 pandemic, the group has stood in solidarity with frontline warriors and healthcare professionals, the real heroes of these times.

More than 6 million meals have been served to the public at large, mainly focused on frontline health workers, essential service workers, underprivileged and other sections of society. The group hotels offered 9,150 room nights to house doctors, health workers and other frontline warriors; 8,000 room nights were offered for institutionalized quarantine; 105 room nights were offered to augment bed capacity of hospitals for COVID-19 patients, and over Rs 150 crore was donated to public and private funds created for COVID-19 relief.

Radisson Hotels found unique ways to extend their ‘Yes I Can!’ service proposition to their roster of regular guests. They leveraged the #RadissonCares initiative to provide expertise across a range of service areas: A campaign brought together tips and insights in the areas of housekeeping, F&B, elderly care, and health and wellness from the group’s globally recognised service professionals.

The group also extended help to their employees by offering special training modules to empower them to make the right decisions under emerging situations and to take on challenges posed by the complexities of the new environment. Radisson Hotels engaged their staff through open and transparent communication such as periodic newsletters and weekly training; live sessions with senior leadership; and virtual coffee sessions.

Zubin Saxena, Managing Director and Vice President – Operations, South Asia Radisson Hotel Group

I firmly believe that for any business to emerge strong in the face of adversity, it is important to have a plan. We have a strong strategy in our India Unification Plan, a master blueprint guiding our long-term planning as well as day-to-day decision making at Radisson Hotel Group. By leveraging the collective strength of our network, we will continue to deliver value for all our stakeholders and unlock opportunities for the future. We are witnessing a positive outcome from this plan as we begin our recovery from the crisis. We strongly believe that we are on the right path for building a stronger business operation.”

Frontline Heroes

Sanjeet Hooda, Deputy Chief Security Officer, Security, Radisson Blu New Delhi Paschim Vihar

Recently, when one of the security guards from his team was displaced from his home, Sanjeet Hooda offered him and his wife, who were unwell, his vacant house. Not only did the family stay in his house for about a month at no cost to them, but he also arranged for their meals and medicines. And when the guard’s wife needed medical care, Hooda used his relationship with the local hospital to get her admitted and covered the expense.

A believer in “the power of memorable moments to lift spirits”, Hooda took it upon himself to celebrate the first birthday of a chef’s daughter who was on duty during the lockdown. Hooda ensured that his team members upskilled themselves. To keep them engaged, he launched various initiatives such as celebrating the ‘Fire Safety Week’, a poster-making competition, informative movies events and celebrating all festivals.

Vivek Shukla, Sr. Sous Chef – Culinary, Radisson Gurugram Udyog Vihar

Since the beginning of the crisis, Vivek Shukla has been working relentlessly behind the scenes to ensure that the kitchen adapts effectively to the new SOPs. He worked on a new menu that used limited ingredients available in the market effectively and ensured smooth operations under Radisson Hotel Safety Protocol, as well as safety guidelines issued by local authorities.

He also helped in the hotel’s initiative to feed migrant workers who were walking hundreds of miles to their hometowns, even volunteering during his free time. Over 1200 meals were cooked and served every day under his guidance.
