Senior Vice President, Country Head, Hilton

Navjit Ahluwalia joined Hilton in January 2018 as the company’s first SVP & Country head for Hilton in India.
While overseeing the operations of 24 trading hotels in India, he also leads the company’s strategy to bolster its revenue market share; continue delivering superior operational performance and drive market leading owner returns. At the same time, he is responsible to grow Hilton’s portfolio of brands, strategically invest in expanding the India business and continue hiring the best industry talent.
Ahluwalia has over 30 years of hospitality experience and for over 13 years was with Marriott International where he held key leadership roles. He has also worked with HVS in New York and New Delhi where he was responsible for hotel valuations and related consulting assignments for investors, lenders and hotel companies. Prior to that, he worked for over a decade in hotel operations with a number of hotel chains including Oberoi and ITC Hotels in India and the Claridge’s and Dorchester hotels in London.

“I believe my journey has been a combination of allowing myself to dream and following it with a lot of persistence and patience. I have been fortunate to have been offered opportunities which allowed me to harness my potential and I found myself in the right place at the right time. I consider myself lucky to be doing what I love because that allows me to work harder and eventually gather expertise and experience at the same time. Ultimately, there is no shortcut to hard work and it certainly gets much easier if you are passionate about what you do. To succeed, you have to take risks. I have been brave enough to try new things and sometimes take a few steps back to move in a different direction. My personal hobby has been running as that helps me clear my mind and lift my spirits. Early to rise and early to bed and steaming at sunrise has been my running Mantra. Having multiple hobbies or interests that you are passionate about is very helpful. I am keenly passionate around cycling, dirt biking, architecture, design and technology. Finally, the most impactful decision of your life is choosing the right life partner which shapes and defines a whole lot of decisions you take in life. I have been incredibly lucky to have the support of my wife who perfectly complements me and has my back.”
