What personal leadership mantra guides you, especially when shaping high-performing teams in a luxury environment?
Empowering people. Amplifying voices. Driving excellence. That’s the core of my leadership philosophy. High-performing teams aren’t built on processes alone—they thrive when individuals feel heard, valued, and connected to a shared purpose.
I’ve had the privilege of leading iconic luxury brands across diverse landscapes—The Oberoi Hotels in Egypt, opening The Leela Bhartiya City during the pandemic, managing Four Seasons Hotels, and now The Ritz-Carlton. These experiences have given me a unique lens on what it truly means to execute a luxury mindset: it’s not just about service; it’s about creating moments that resonate deeply.
My formative years at The Oberoi Hotels taught me that collaboration and mutual respect are the foundation of growth. Every person brings unique strengths, and progress happens when we lean on each other.
At The Ritz-Carlton, my mission is clear—to inspire my team to evolve with the brand, embrace the ever-changing language of luxury, and invest wholeheartedly in our shared pursuit of excellence.
Luxury is increasingly defined by emotional connection rather than just service rituals. How do you plan to build deeper guest loyalty and increase repeat stays?
For me, true luxury is emotional. It’s about how we make guests feel long after they leave. At The Ritz-Carlton, our philosophy of “Leave Better Than They Arrived” guides everything. My focus is to train our ladies and gentlemen to anticipate unspoken needs, fulfil unexpressed wishes, and curate moments that stay with the guest forever.
While we are a business hotel, today’s travellers are no longer satisfied with a transactional stay. Business and leisure have blended—guests want to discover the city, unwind, and feel a sense of connection. Often, guests don’t even know what they are looking for, and it becomes our responsibility to guide them toward experiences that elevate their journey.
I believe in creating a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere where time feels suspended. Instead of rigid schedules, we focus on crafting moments of delight—small gestures, cultural touchpoints, and unexpected surprises that help guests experience Bangalore in its truest essence. When a guest feels emotionally enriched, when they discover something new through us, that is when loyalty is built.
Deeper loyalty comes from how we shape their emotional landscape. If we can consistently create memories that resonate, inspire, and comfort—experiences they cannot find elsewhere—they will return not just for the hotel, but for the feeling we gave them.

You’ve often spoken about success being a collective journey. What concrete strategies will you implement to empower your teams, inspire frontline excellence, and enhance the internal culture?
I’ve always believed that success is a collective journey, and that belief was shaped early in my career at The Trident, Udaipur. There, cross-functional working was a way of life—designations didn’t define contribution, and everyone owned every responsibility. It taught me that no one is limited by their designation; people rise when they are trusted, empowered, and given the opportunity to stretch their potential.
At The Ritz-Carlton, I bring that philosophy to life by empowering managers to think like business owners. I want every outlet head, and even supervisors, to operate as the GM of their space—making decisions, understanding financial impact, and taking accountability for both top and bottom lines. When people understand the “why,” they drive results with greater passion and precision.
Hierarchy, to me, has never been a barrier. I communicate openly with anyone who is best suited to deliver the task. Autonomy, awareness, and financial intelligence are the pillars I focus on, because empowered teams are confident teams—and confident teams create exceptional guest experiences.
Culturally, my priority is to ensure that every Lady and Gentleman internalises The Ritz-Carlton ethos, regardless of where they come from. We come from diverse backgrounds, but we grow together when united by purpose. I encourage my teams to build relationships and to be visible. Our people should be recognised as the voices of excellence.
Ultimately, The Ritz-Carlton brand is built through its people, and my commitment is to create an environment where every individual feels proud, valued, and inspired to represent that brand at the highest level. When our people grow, the brand grows—and so does our success.
What will be your approach to strengthening The Ritz-Carlton’s competitive positioning and maintaining its position?
Our strategy is to elevate with intention—not just through renovation, but through refinement, storytelling, and sensory detail. We’ve redefined our F&B identity by thoughtfully repositioning concepts like Zarqāsh and Yan Yán, ensuring each becomes a destination within the city’s competitive dining scene.
Our partnership with Chef Rohit Ghai, whose global acclaim and Michelin-star recognition shape the culinary vision at Zarqāsh, has been transformational. With his mentorship, Zarqāsh has emerged as a high-end luxury fine dining space—one that presents elevated cuisine in an accessible, contemporary way, with craftsmanship and authenticity at its core.
Yan Yán is positioned as a feast for the senses: visually striking, modern Chinese cuisine delivering bold flavors, exceptional plating, and an ambience that blends theatre with refinement. Both outlets embody my belief that standout restaurants must feel like standalone destinations—powered by chefs, ambience, and a clear, compelling identity.
Beyond F&B, we are working to elevate every guest touchpoint across the hotel. Luxury today is multi-sensory, and our approach is to enhance experiences through soft-touch interventions: refined lighting, curated scents, tactile elements, visual storytelling, and gentle sound design. From rooms to public spaces, every gesture is intentional—crafted to evoke emotion, spark discovery, and create moments that linger long after departure.
What is your long-term vision for The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore?
My long-term vision for The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore is to build on our strengths and create a hotel that evolves meaningfully with the needs of today’s global traveller. Weekdays bring business guests; weekends welcome leisure and lifestyle seekers. My aim is to design experiences that help each guest grow—transforming a stay from ordinary to extraordinary through deeper engagement, personalisation, and discovery.
A key focus is to introduce culturally immersive journeys that allow guests to connect with the spirit of Bangalore—through art, storytelling, and local experiences that enrich their stay. We’re also bringing back an exciting, elevated nightclub experience, ensuring the hotel offers vibrant, contemporary energy alongside refined luxury.
From a service philosophy standpoint, The Ritz-Carlton Bangalore is unique. As India’s first Ritz-Carlton, the hotel embodies a distinct blend of Indian architectural character and the brand’s timeless warmth. It is intimate, curated, and deeply personal—qualities I want to amplify across every touchpoint. Each space should feel inviting and private, allowing guests to feel seen, understood, and cared for.
Ultimately, my vision is to elevate the hotel into a destination of meaningful luxury, where sensory design, cultural context, personalised service, and thoughtful spaces come together to create experiences guests cannot find anywhere else. That becomes our differentiator—and the reason guests return, again and again.
