Tourism New Zealand is making it easier than ever for Indian travellers to discover and experience the country’s landscapes and unique culture. A series of initiatives have been announced to remove traditional barriers, streamline booking processes, and provide compelling new reasons for Indian visitors to choose New Zealand as their holiday destination all year round.
Potential Direct Flight Route to New Zealand
One of the development is the potential for a direct flight route between India and New Zealand. At a tourism reception hosted by Tourism New Zealand, the Right Honorable Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand, witnessed the signing of a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Air India and Air New Zealand to explore the potential for direct connectivity, which would make New Zealand more accessible than ever for Indian travelers.
Strategic Alliances and Seasonal Initiatives to Boost Indian Arrivals
Tourism New Zealand is also strengthening its efforts to boost Indian arrivals with a combination of strategic alliances and seasonal travel initiatives. A joint MoU between Tourism New Zealand, Auckland Airport, and Air New Zealand will fund a seasonal marketing campaign aimed at driving off-peak visitation to New Zealand.
This collaboration is part of a broader effort to position New Zealand as a preferred destination for Indian visitors, particularly during the autumn, winter, and spring seasons.
Tailored Travel Experiences for Indian Travellers
Joint venture agreements with nine Indian travel partners have been signed, focusing on promoting New Zealand’s winter and spring seasons. These partnerships will help curate travel experiences that meet the preferences of Indian travellers and further drive visitation.
Exclusive Winter Campaign for Indian Visitors
An exclusive integrated winter campaign has been launched, combining media content with promotional travel packages. The campaign aims to inspire Indian visitors through strategic digital media placements while offering immediate conversion opportunities through travel partners. It highlights New Zealand’s snow-capped destinations, adventure sports, and luxury stays during the winter season.
Growth Potential in the Indian Market
René de Monchy, Chief Executive of Tourism New Zealand, said, “India is one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing markets, with holiday visitor numbers experiencing double-digit growth and huge potential for further expansion. The travel trade has been integral in shaping holiday visitor flows and building New Zealand’s reputation as a premium destination for discerning travelers. We are focused on enhancing these commercial partnerships and, through improved connectivity and high-impact marketing campaigns, we aim to convert this interest into bookings and visits.”
“Tourism remains a cornerstone of New Zealand’s economy, the second-largest export earner behind agriculture. With Indians traveling during their key holiday periods that align with New Zealand’s traditionally quieter seasons, we see significant opportunities for medium and long-term growth, making New Zealand the preferred holiday destination for Indian visitors all year round.”
