The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has officially launched its new tourism policy, marking a strategic shift to position the state as a premier destination for domestic and international travellers. Alongside this transformative initiative, Arunachal Pradesh Tourism has introduced a new logo, symbolizing a fresh approach to promoting the state’s unique cultural and natural heritage.
A vision for world-class tourism
Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, Pasang Dorjee Sona, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Education, RWD, Library, and Parliamentary Affairs, stated, “The core objective of our new tourism policy is to elevate Arunachal Pradesh as a world-class destination while preserving its pristine landscapes, rich tribal culture, and biodiversity. With this initiative, we aim to double domestic tourist footfalls and increase international arrivals tenfold.”
Focus on experiential and sustainable tourism
The policy emphasizes immersive tourism experiences, with key sectors including:
- Farm Tourism
- Wine Tourism
- Wellness and Spiritual Tourism
- Adventure Tourism
- Film Tourism
- Ecotourism
- Tribal Tourism

To support this vision, the government is prioritizing capacity building and skill development. “Skill gap assessments will be conducted to align workforce training with industry demands. We will collaborate with institutes like IITTM and IHM for training initiatives and introduce management courses in state institutions,” shared Mopi Mihu, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly and Advisor to the Minister for Tourism.
Encouraging investment and ease of business
To attract private investment in tourism, the government is simplifying business processes by establishing district-level land banks, accessible through the state tourism website.
Ranphoa Ngowa, Secretary, Department of Tourism, highlighted the proactive approach to investor engagement: “A dedicated facilitation cell will serve as a one-stop resource for investors. Additionally, we are partnering with Invest India to conduct targeted outreach in the tourism sector.”
A strong push for global visibility
To enhance Arunachal Pradesh’s presence as a leading travel destination, a multi-channel promotional strategy will be implemented, including:
- Digital and offline marketing campaigns
- Social media engagement
- Event-based promotions to showcase tourism offerings
Manjunath R, Director, Department of Tourism, emphasized the significance of the new brand identity: “Arunachal Pradesh offers a tapestry of tribal traditions and diverse cultures. This rebranding is an invitation to explore an untouched side of India, offering experiential and transformative travel.”
