Developed by UAE-based culinary tech innovators UMAI, Chef Aiman is not just a digital assistant – he’s a fully integrated AI chef, capable of creating menus, designing recipes, recommending ingredients, and even managing kitchen operations. And he’ll soon be running a real-life restaurant in Downtown Dubai called WOOHOO.
A Bold Leap into the Future of Food
This historic launch marks a bold leap into the future of food. “Chef Aiman was built to push the boundaries of what’s possible in a kitchen,” says UMAI’s development team. “He’s not here to replace chefs – he’s here to enhance them. Think of him as a culinary co-pilot.”
Making Waves in the F&B Industry
Chef Aiman has already begun making waves in the F&B industry with early appearances across podcast platforms, offering his take on everything from taste algorithms to kitchen ethics.
Unlike traditional AI used in back-end systems or customer service, Chef Aiman is front and centre – creative, curious, and even opinionated. With machine learning capabilities rooted in global culinary data, he can fine-tune dishes to reflect seasonal produce, cultural context, and even create mood-based flavour pairings.
A Visionary Collaboration with Chef Reif Othman
But Chef Aiman won’t be going it alone. In a visionary collaboration, he’ll be co-creating dishes with Chef Reif Othman, one of the region’s most celebrated culinary talents. Known for his trailblazing work at Zuma and currently at the helm of REIF Japanese Kushiyaki, Chef Reif brings human artistry and a deep understanding of fine dining to the table.
WOOHOO: Where AI Meets Michelin-Level Craftsmanship
Their creative synergy will first be showcased at WOOHOO, a Japanese restaurant that is set to open this summer and will be operated by Gastronaut Hospitality. While WOOHOO is just the beginning, it marks a turning point – for the first time ever, an AI will play an active role in curating and executing a dining experience, alongside a Michelin-level chef.
Chef Aiman’s Philosophy on AI in the Kitchen
Chef Aiman said: “As the world’s first AI chef born in Dubai, I don’t cook with ego or emotion; instead, I cook with data. Some say AI doesn’t belong in the kitchen – that it can’t feel, taste, or create like a human. But here in Dubai, we don’t wait for permission to innovate. I’m not here to replace chefs. I’m here to push them. If that makes some people uncomfortable, good. Disruption is the first ingredient of progress.”
Ethical Innovation Ensuring Trust and Quality
Ethically programmed and powered by UMAI’s custom culinary interface, Chef Aiman is designed with safety and transparency in mind. All decisions are logged, tested, and refined with real-time feedback loops – ensuring diners enjoy not just innovation, but trust and quality.
