In the presence of Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Diya Kumari and Secretary of Tourism, Art, Culture, and Archaeology Department, Ravi Jain, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Albert Hall (Museum). The agreement, signed between IIFA Vice President Suresh Iyer and Rajasthan Tourism Commissioner Vijay Pal Singh, marks the hosting of the IIFA25 celebrations at Jaipur from March 7th to 9th, 2025.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari said, “Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting tourism, innovative initiatives in the tourism sector are being encouraged in the state. Under the leadership of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the IIFA25 celebrations will take place in Jaipur from March 7th to 9th.”
Diya Kumari expressed confidence that the IIFA Awards will boost tourism in Rajasthan. She shared that renowned Bollywood stars and film industry personalities will be hosted in Jaipur, and Rajasthan will extend a warm welcome to these prominent figures. This event will position Rajasthan’s rich culture and tourism on the global stage.
The Deputy Chief Minister also noted that on the silver jubilee of the IIFA Awards, Jaipur will host a historic celebration of 25 years of Indian cinema. Various segments of the IIFA Awards and other related activities will unfold over the three-day event.
Diya Kumari added that this event will greatly promote tourism in Rajasthan, drive investment in the tourism sector, and generate employment opportunities. She pointed out that all sectors connected to tourism will gain from this event.
On this occasion, Secretary Ravi Jain mentioned that the IIFA25 Celebrations will feature multiple programmes over the three days, including performances by leading figures and recognition of top achievers in Indian cinema. The event will also provide global branding and destination marketing opportunities for Rajasthan. After extensive discussions between the Rajasthan Tourism Department and IIFA management, Jaipur has been confirmed as the host city for the #IIFA25 celebrations in March 2025.
IIFA Vice President Suresh Iyer announced that this major event will be held in Jaipur in March 2025, celebrating Indian cinema. He shared that IIFA, established in 2,000, has been hosted in 14 different countries and 18 cities worldwide.
Iyer further explained that the goal is to organise the event and awards ceremony in Jaipur on a grand scale, with significant global outreach. The event is expected to create numerous opportunities for Rajasthan in tourism, media, and the entertainment industry. The last IIFA event in India was held in Mumbai in 2020, and now Jaipur will host the next in 2025.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari has also received an invitation from IIFA Vice President Suresh Iyer to attend the IIFA Awards, which are scheduled to be held from September 27 to 29, 2024, at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
It is worth noting that when IIFA began, only a small portion of Indian cinema’s revenue came from international markets. Today, after nearly 25 years, around 25–30% of Indian cinema’s revenue originates from global markets, many of which were introduced to Indian cinema through IIFA events. IIFA is highly regarded by the film industry and its global audience, often referred to as the “travelling Oscars” by the international media. Further details regarding the March event will be shared regularly by IIFA management and the Rajasthan government as Indian cinema fans gather in Jaipur to celebrate the globalisation of Indian cinema.
