Sattvik Council of India (SCI), a non-profit organisation championing vegetarian food and lifestyle has started its operations in Odisha too. “Our organization is growing fast & many big brands are approaching now for Sattvik certification; therefore we are opening branches where there’s an increasing demand. Bhubaneswar is the first city we’ll be setting foot in,” said Abhishek Biswas, Founder at Sattvik Council of India.

Satyanarayan Mohapatra has been appointed as the state representative of SCI, Odisha. He said, “It’s my pleasure to work with SCI that ensures the creation of an environment for vegetarian consumers around the world. It’s a Revolutionary initiative to bring a better place for Vegetarian consumers around the globe. With the requirement for the new SOP’s and standards in the food supply chain, Sattvik MARK guarantees the trust and belief for 100% vegetarian and vegan products.”

For the past 10 years, SCI has developed SOPS in the field of food and hospitality and developed the three manuals – ‘Sattvik Quality Management Manual’, ‘Vegetarian Quality Kitchen Management Manual’ and ‘Vegetarian Hospitality Management Manual’.

SCI’s goal is to generate 1,000,00 certified skilled resources in India in the area of food safety and vegetarian/vegan compliance by 2025 and aims to certify approximately 1 million establishments by 2025 including kitchens/hotels/product & textile.

Recently, SCI in association with Bureau Veritas (global audit partner) provided ‘vegetarian certification’ to ‘Shri Ramayan Yatra’ at Safdarjung Railway Station in New Delhi in order to encourage vegetarian-friendly railway services. ‘Shri Ramayana Yatra’ has become the first vegetarian-friendly train.
