Top 10 most spectacular hotels in the world

From tallest towers to underwater buildings, there is an indefinite list of hotels and resorts that are out there waiting to be explored. Hotelierindia.com looks at some of the most enchanting ones that are bound to take your breath away….

1. Rose Rotana

This is the tallest building used exclusively as a hotel. Also known as Rose Tower, the 72-storey hotel is located in Dubai.

Originally, the tower was to be 380 m (1,250 ft) high, but design modification reduced it to 333 m (1,093 ft).

Construction began in 2004 and was completed in 2007. On 24 October 2006, the building reached its full height with the addition of the spire.

2. The Oberoi Vanyavilas, Ranthambhore

It has been ranked the best hotel in the world in the prestigious Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2010 Readers’ Survey.

These awards were announced by the world’s leading travel magazine brand – Travel + Leisure. The ranking is the result of a readers’ poll conducted by the magazine.

The readers rate their experiences and evaluate hotels across the world on the following characteristics – rooms and facilities, location, service, restaurants and food, and value.

3. Chicago Trump tower

According to the travel + Leisure magazine, the Trump international hotel & tower in Chicago tops the magazine’s best large city hotels in the United States and Canada for 2010.

Donald Trump, in a statement, called the honour “tremendous.”

The Peninsula hotel is ranked No. 2 on the list. The magazine lists its top 50.

4. Anantara resort

The Anantara Golden Triangle Resort & Spa also made it to the Travel & Leisure’s World’s Best resorts list for 2010.

The five-star resort, located close to Chiang Saen in northern Thailand, was voted in at number twelve on the list. It is the second year in a row that the five star resort has been named as one of Asia’s top fifteen resorts.

A questionnaire developed by the editors of Travel + Leisure, in association with ROI Research Inc., was made available to Travel + Leisure readers at TLWorldsBest.com from December 15, 2009, to March 31, 2010.

Readers were invited to participate through Travel + Leisure magazine, and online at TravelandLeisure.com.

The resort boasts 77 luxurious rooms set in 160 acres of indigenous forest and landscaped gardens. Guest facilities include an infinity-edge swimming pool set into the hillside behind the resort to capture the views over the Mekong valley below.

5. Armani Hotel

Exclusively located in Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building is the luxurious Armani Hotel Dubai.

Armani’s signature style is woven into each of it’s 160 guest rooms and suites. Guest rooms are located on levels five through eight of Burj Khalifa, with suites on floors 38 and 39.

6. George V Hotel, Paris

Arguably the finest hotel in Paris, and one of the best in the world, this hotel, run by the Four Seasons Group, is effortlessly run with tip-top service.

The George V has the added bonus of a spectacular dining experience, a great spa, and one of the largest flower budgets of any hotel in the world. The flower arrangements are works of art.

7. Danieli Hotel

This is one of Venice’s classic honeymoon hotels with the best views of all.

The world-famous Danieli Hotel topped the hotel list in the Baedeker guide book and it’s still one of the very finest places to stay in the city.

8. Mena House Oberoi (Egypt)

Nothing better than waking up and seeing the Great Pyramid from your bedroom window! The Mena House Oberoi is known for this.

It opened in 1869, and features a jasmine garden, a golf course, and a swimming pool in full view of the pyramids of Giza.

9. Poseidon Undersea Resort (Fiji)

It’s 40 feet underwater and you don’t need to know how to scuba dive or even swim to get there. It will have an elevator that takes you from the dock to the below-water suites.

It also contains the same pressure as above ground, so no need to worry about acclimating to the sea.

10. Atlantis Paradise island resort

The Atlantis Paradise island is a resort and water park located on Paradise Island, the Bahamas.

The resort was created by South African hotel magnate Sol Kerzner and Kerzner International Limited.

Paradise Island first opened its Coral and Beach Towers as the Trump Plaza, then changed its name to Atlantis when the Royal Towers were built.

The Coral and Beach Towers were later refurbished to match the theme of the Royal Towers.
