Riyadh Air CEO, Tony Douglas, is leading a delegation to India for a series of discussions aimed at exploring potential partnerships in a key market for the airline. The brand is set to launch operations later this year, and is positioned to enhance connectivity and foster growth between the two nations. India is expected to become Saudi Arabia’s top tourism source market by 2030.
Saudi Arabia’s Growing Tourism Interest in India
The Saudi Tourism Authority has set an ambitious target of welcoming 7.5 million Indian visitors annually by the decade’s end. In 2023 alone, Indian travellers to Saudi Arabia increased by 50% to over 1.5 million, driven by strategic initiatives.
Key Meetings with Indian Aviation Stakeholders
From March 12 to 14, 2025, the Riyadh Air delegation will engage with officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Saudi Arabian Embassy to secure necessary approvals for India operations. Discussions are also planned with IndiGo and Air India to explore potential partnerships.

Bird Travels Appointed as Exclusive Sales Partner
As part of its India expansion, Riyadh Air has appointed Bird Travels as its exclusive distribution and sales partner. Bird Travels, known for its extensive reach in the Indian travel sector, will enhance Riyadh Air’s market presence and promote its services.
