Impactful Initiatives and Measurable Success
In FY 2024-25, IHCL successfully reduced its water intensity by over 20% compared to the previous year. Currently, 48% of the total wastewater generated across IHCL hotels is recycled, a significant achievement driven by targeted conservation efforts, particularly in high water-stress locations.
Pioneering Water Conservation Across Properties
- Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur: Restored a historic rainwater harvesting system, collecting an average of 1,05,000 KL of rainwater annually in a manmade lake.
- Taj Resort & Convention Centre, Goa, and Cidade de Goa – IHCL SeleQtions: Reduced dependence on external water sources by restoring on-site ponds and recycling approximately 8,540 KL of water monthly for irrigation and cooling.
- Taj Lands End, Mumbai: Introduced a rainwater catchment system to optimize water usage.
- Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur: Recycles 2,700 KL of water annually, integrating the iconic Lily Pond as a key component of its water conservation strategy.
