Inspired by the scenic vineyards of Nashik, India’s celebratory wine capital, Archana Singh embarked on a mission to curate premium quality wines that reflect the region’s rich heritage and unparalleled beauty.
In an industry predominantly ruled by men, Archana has carved a niche for herself as a distinguished entrepreneur, inviting enthusiasts to embark on a sensory journey, celebrating the artistry and elegance of handcrafted wines. In an interesting chat with Hotelier India, she shares her love for wine-making, creating VinoDeBella and more…
What got you interested in the industry of wines?
I have always been fascinated by the wine-making process and how it has evolved over centuries across the globe. As a new wine world, India has a large untapped potential due to the emergence of wine demand driven by evolving demographics of the country. VinoDeBella focuses on curating artisanal boutique wines and vineyard-inspired community experiences which is still at a nascent stage in India.
What do you exactly mean by ‘curating artisanal boutique wines’?
VinoDeBella is a boutique brand with a clear focus on artisanal wines coming from small boutique vineyards. On the one hand, we have some excellent wines coming out from small boutique vineyards in Nashik. On the other hand, there’s a growing market for quality wines in India.
VinoDeBella aims to bridge the gap between these two by bringing some of the best Nashik wines to its quality seeking customers.
Have you had any formal training in wine-making?
VinoDeBella wines are produced by boutique vineyards that have the expertise and experience of many years in wine-making.
As a wine enthusiast, I have travelled across the world and visited several vineyards to be able to bring the best of global influence to wine-making and selection.
When did you start VinoDeBella? And what is the USP of your brand?
VinoDeBella entered the market in December 2022 and we have recently completed a one-year milestone. VinoDeBella specialises in artisanal wines sourced from close partnerships with small boutique vineyards in Nashik, the wine capital of India. It offers a diverse range of red and white varietals, including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chenin Blanc, providing wine enthusiasts with a rich and distinctive selection. VinoDeBella also prides itself on delivering unique multifaceted community experiences like “The Brunch Club” and “The Community” in collaboration with Radisson Blu International Airport Hotel.
How did you go about setting up VinoDeBella? What kind of work went behind it?
The most important part was identifying some of the best small vineyards in Nashik and their best wines which we could introduce into the market. Another important aspect was creating channels to reach the right set of customers. For this, we had to find the right set of partners, and today, we are happy to be collaborating with a select set of restaurants, chefs and especially Radisson Mumbai.
Did you face any challenges – being a woman in a male-dominated industry?
Traditionally, yes, it’s a male-dominated industry. However, we have come a long way with many success stories of women-led brands across different sections of the industry. My journey has been an enriching one as I have come across partners with diverse backgrounds who have positively contributed to the evolution of VinoDeBella.
Tell us about Vineyard Rhythms… and the collaboration with Radisson…
Curating Vineyard Rhythms has been a journey of passion and creativity. It’s not merely an event; it’s a canvas where strength, art, and community converge. Each element carefully chosen, echoing the spirit of VinoDeBella and the vibrant celebration of International Women’s Day.
Vineyard Rhythms is a unique three-day celebration that not only marks VinoDeBella’s one-year milestone but also a successful collaboration with Radisson Blu Mumbai International Airport. Launching on International Women’s Day, every aspect of this event is orchestrated by a line-up of remarkable women entrepreneurs, promising a celebration of creativity, diversity, and empowerment. The festivities kick off with a culinary adventure at the Chef’s Table curated by two renowned chefs – Ananya Banerjee and Sherry Mehta. Each chef brings a unique international flair to the table, inspired by local ingredients, perfectly paired with VinoDeBella’s finest wines curated by wine appreciator and etiquette expert Suneeta Kanga Sodhi.
The second day unfolds a vibrant dance fiesta – a curated eclectic fusion experience of Latin styles by Dance Lyk A Star team that mirrors the diverse backgrounds of our global community. And the last day ends with a captivating Fashion Gala by Mitikka – an exclusive fashion line-up, specially curated for Vineyard Rhythms. More than just style, it pays homage to women entrepreneurs shaping the world – a testament to their resilience and creativity.
