A slice of paradise

Faultless service, a place where man and nature are in harmony…The Rest Detail Hotel on the island of Hua Hin in Thailand, is aptly described as a ‘seaside sanctuary’, says Punam Mohandas.

With only 56-rooms, the Rest Detail Hotel offers a perfect getaway from the stressful lives we lead. Indeed, the very name of the hotel is meant to convey minute attention and detail to the ‘rest’ element of a resort stay.

All the rooms have a specific water element; they overlook either the sea, or the swimming pool, or else have Jacuzzis on the terrace, surrounded by stunning hill vistas.

The ‘Pool Village’ is the crème de la crème layer of the property; each of the 12-units are surrounded by lush greenery. Measuring 65-square metres, with huge bathrooms, they flank a private pool with twin sun beds on a cosy patio.

Basking in the warm sunlight, lazy ripples break the surface of the pool, whose monotony is offset by leafy palms placed within at strategic points.

Just past the boundary of this private haven is a narrow strip of beach and then, as far as the eye can see, is only the infinite timelessness of the sea. Curtained cabanas with dual sun beds can placed on the beach, on request.

The selection of the furnishings have been done carefully to reflect a soft luxury tone, yet remain understated. The colour scheme is muted; all earth tones and whites, with Thai wooden teak flooring. An antique-style ceiling fan rotates silently in the stillness.

Space has been cleverly used; for instance, the wide window sills have been converted into diwans, with colourful cushions scattered across it carelessly.

The credit for the interior design of the rooms goes to the MD and the GM, who took a personal interest in the venture. Service is faultless, delivered with the ever-ready Thai smile. “Service is of the utmost importance; we believe that if guests are satisfied with our service, they will keep coming back,” said Jakri Rujirat, GM, Rest Detail Hotel Hua Hin.
