Hyatt has announced the appointment of S. Vidyashankar as Regional Vice President of Human Resources, India and Southwest Asia. With over 23 years of experience in hospitality human resources, including more than two decades with Hyatt, Vidyashankar brings deep expertise in building resilient teams, nurturing leadership capability, and shaping people-first cultures.
In his new role, he will lead Hyatt’s people strategy across the region, working closely with regional and hotel leadership teams to support the company’s continued growth and evolving business needs.

Vidyashankar will play a key role in strengthening leadership pipelines, nurturing internal talent, and embedding consistent, future-ready people practices across Hyatt’s portfolio. His mandate includes fostering an inclusive workplace culture aligned with Hyatt’s purpose and values, while ensuring teams remain agile and empowered as the brand expands.
Extensive regional and multi-property experience
Prior to this appointment, Vidyashankar served as Area Director of Human Resources, where he led HR operations for 18 hotels across six states. In this role, he partnered closely with General Managers and hotel HR and Training teams to enhance people practices and operational effectiveness across the portfolio.
Over the course of his Hyatt career, he has held multiple leadership positions across India, gaining extensive experience in multi-location HR leadership, hotel pre-openings and transitions, talent management, statutory compliance, trade union negotiations, and industrial relations.
