WGH Hotels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd., welcomes Hon. Minister for Industry, Government of Kerala, P. Rajeev to the site of its upcoming flagship project in Kochi. The visit marks a significant milestone for the group, as this luxury development was among the prestigious projects showcased at the Kerala Global Investment Meet, aligning with the state’s vision for sustainable and experience-driven tourism.
A legacy built on heritage destinations
In 2012, the group entered Kerala’s tourism and hospitality sector with the acquisition of World Backwaters Alleppey. Today, World Group Heritance (WGH) owns and operates properties across key destinations including Alleppey, Munnar, and Thekkady. It is now expanding with new projects in Kochi, Varkala, Trivandrum, and Ashtamudi, including a wellness resort—each developed to international standards and inspired by Kerala’s cultural heritage.
A landmark unveiling for Kochi
During the visit, the minister will be presented with the master plan and design philosophy of the WGH Kochi project, set to launch on January 1, 2028. This luxury destination will set new benchmarks in hospitality by combining modern infrastructure with authentic Kerala experiences.

Jayakrishnan, Director of World Group and WGH Hotels & Resorts, expressed his gratitude for the government’s continued support and investment-friendly policies. “Kerala’s infrastructure development and progressive tourism policies are perfectly aligned with our vision. Our projects aim to promote responsible and sustainable tourism while gifting guests an immersive experience of Kerala’s unique lifestyle and traditions,” said Jayakrishnan.
Investing in growth, education, and community
The World Group, with nearly four decades of business experience starting in mining and expanding into sectors such as DRI, retail, logistics, agriculture, and consulting, has invested INR 250 crores in Kerala’s hospitality sector over the past two years. An additional INR 500 crores has been committed to upcoming ventures, including resort projects, a hospitality college in Kochi, and a chain of vegetarian restaurants across the state.
The hospitality college aims to train around 200 professionals annually, supporting local talent and industry standards. The Varkala and Ashtamudi resorts are scheduled to open by 2027, positioning WGH as a significant contributor to Kerala’s evolving tourism sector.
