During his recent two-day visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stayed at Blair House, the official guest residence of the US President.
‘WORLD’S MOST EXCLUSIVE HOTEL’
Located directly across from the White House at 1651 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC, Blair House is often referred to as “the world’s most exclusive hotel.”
Constructed in 1824, Blair House spans 70,000 square feet and comprises four interconnected townhouses, totalling 119 rooms. The residence includes 14 guest bedrooms, 35 bathrooms, three formal dining rooms, and a fully equipped beauty salon. Its interiors are adorned with antique furniture, fine art, and numerous historical artifacts, reflecting American history and craftsmanship.
Blair House has a storied history of hosting dignitaries, including US Presidents, royalty, and world leaders. Notably, it has welcomed figures such as former Indian Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, British Queen Elizabeth II, French President Charles de Gaulle, and Israeli Prime Ministers Golda Meir, Shimon Peres, and Yitzhak Rabin.

Ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s arrival, Blair House was adorned with the Indian flag, underscoring the significance of his diplomatic visit.
During his stay, Prime Minister Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora, who gathered outside Blair House to greet him with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Modi Modi.”
This visit highlights the enduring relationship between India and the United States, with Blair House serving as a symbol of the hospitality extended to visiting dignitaries.
