The Gevora Hotel, standing proudly in Downtown Dubai, holds the prestigious title of the world’s tallest hotel, as per Guinness World Records.

Opened on February 12, 2018, this iconic structure continues to redefine luxury and hospitality, offering families and travellers a tranquil retreat amidst the bustling city skyline.

Unmatched Height: A New World Record

The Gevora Hotel stands at an impressive height of 356.33 meters (1,169 feet), measured from the ground to its spire, surpassing the previous record holder, the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, by nearly one meter. The gold-coloured tower features 75 stories and houses 528 hotel rooms spread across 71 floors, offering guests unparalleled views of the city.

Design and Engineering Marvel

Originally conceived as a residential building, the Gevora Hotel was converted into a luxury hotel during construction. The project began in 2005 under the development of Al Attar Properties, with Al Turath Engineering Consultants as the architect of record. The construction process, which spanned 12 years, involved several key contractors, including Al Fara’a General Contracting, Naresco Contracting, and Caterpillar Contracting.

The tower’s narrow structure is stabilized by a deep foundation, and its exterior is clad in a gold-tinted glass façade that adds a touch of opulence. The building’s crown, a pyramid-shaped gold lattice structure, contributes to its total height of 357.8 meters (1,174 feet), making it an architectural and engineering triumph.

Luxurious Amenities at Great Heights

Gevora Hotel offers a range of facilities designed to provide an exceptional guest experience:

  • Four Restaurants: Guests can enjoy a variety of dining options, from international cuisine to fine dining.
  • Open-Air Pool Deck: A relaxing pool area with panoramic views of the Dubai skyline.
  • Luxury Spa: Located on the 71st floor, the spa offers indulgent treatments with breathtaking views.
  • Health Club and Jacuzzi: Wellness facilities for fitness enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation.

Efficient Vertical Travel

The Gevora Hotel features six high-speed elevators, three of which travel to the top floors at a speed of 26 km/h (16 mph). Apparently, guests can reach the highest floor in just 38 seconds, adding convenience to the luxury experience.

Construction Journey

The Gevora Hotel’s construction process was meticulous. The tower rose steadily between 2006 and 2008, with one floor added approximately every five days. After reaching its structural height, the building was clad, and the iconic crown was installed. By 2017, the project, which cost over AED 500 million (approximately $140 million), was completed, transforming the former Ahmed Abdul Rahim Al Attar Tower into a globally recognized landmark.

Global Recognition and Rankings

Beyond being the tallest hotel in the world, Gevora Hotel holds additional accolades:

  • Eighth-Tallest Completed Building in Dubai
  • Ninth-Tallest Building in the UAE
  • Among the 50 Tallest Buildings in the World

A Triumph in Hospitality and Design

The Gevora Hotel stands as a testament to Dubai’s ambition and innovation in hospitality and architecture. Combining luxury, functionality, and record-breaking height, it offers guests a unique experience that sets a new standard in the world of high-rise hotels.
