Tim Hortons expands in India: Mumbai and Bengaluru welcome Canada’s famed coffee chain

The Canada-based café chain is on an expansion spree in India

The Canadian restaurant chain Tim Hortons recently announced that it will be launching its outlets in Mumbai and Bengaluru, as per a post by the brand on social media. In addition to it, Tim Hortons recently opened its latest outlet in January 2023 at Ludhiana in Punjab.

Tim Hortons marked its debut in India in 2022 by launching two outlets in the National Capital Region (NCR) followed by three more outlets in the same region along with one in Chandigarh. The chain offers a diverse menu including hot and cold beverages, sandwiches, pasta, baked goods, doughnuts, desserts, wraps etc. It also plans to launch around 120 stores in India in the upcoming years at an investment of up to Rs 300 crore.

The chain is initially focussing on North India and will later expand to other regions.

“The commitment that I made to the board is in the first 36 months of operation, in the first three years, there’ll be 120 stores (in India),” the company’s India CEO Navin Gurnaney earlier said in an interaction on the sidelines of Indian Restaurant Congress 2022.

Based in Toronto, Tim Hortons is a Canadian multinational coffeehouse and restaurant chain. The company was founded in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario by Canadian hockey players Tim Horton and Jim Charade. The coffeehouse is a QSR chain with more than 5,000 restaurants across 15 countries.
