How technology is taking over hospitality

Manmeet Singh, Director of Operations, Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, gives us insights on the same...

●     Online booking: The hospitality industry has undergone a significant transformation with the advent of online bookings. The traditional method of booking hotels, flights, and other travel arrangements through travel agents or directly with hotels has been replaced by online booking platforms. This shift has revolutionized the way people plan their trips and made it easier for them to book accommodations from anywhere in the world.

●     Mobile apps: One way hotels are using technology is through mobile apps that allow guests to check-in and check-out, order room service, and even control room temperature from their smartphones. This not only saves time but also provides a more personalized experience for guests.

●     Electronic door locks: One of the main advantages of electronic door locks is their enhanced security features. They use advanced technology such as biometric scanners or key cards that are difficult to duplicate or hack. This ensures that only authorized personnel can access guest rooms, reducing the risk of theft or unauthorized entry.

●     Guest feedback systems: Guest feedback systems provide valuable insights into what guests want and need from their stay. This information can be used to make improvements that will enhance the overall guest experience.

●     Robots:  Some hotels have started using robots as concierges or bellhops to assist guests with their needs. These robots can provide information about local attractions, restaurants, and events while also delivering items such as towels or room service orders.

●     VR technology: Hotels are using VR to showcase their properties in a more engaging way, allowing potential guests to explore rooms and facilities before making a booking. This technology also enables hotels to offer unique experiences such as virtual safaris or underwater adventures, without having them to physically visit.

●     In-room technology: Finally, hotels are incorporating smart devices into their rooms such as voice-activated assistants like Amazon’s Alexa or Google Home. These devices allow guests to control various aspects of their stay without having to lift a finger.

●     Data analytics: Another area where technology is making a big impact is in data management. With sophisticated software systems that can track guest preferences and behaviour patterns, hotels can tailor their services more effectively than ever before. This integration has led to improved guest satisfaction rates as well as increased revenue for hotels. In conclusion, technology integrations are transforming the hospitality industry by providing guests with personalized experiences while helping hotels streamline their operations.
