The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the signing of a Taj hotel in Weligama, Sri Lanka. The greenfield project will feature 220 keys, including 80 luxury apartments.

Commenting on the signing, Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, IHCL, said, “Weligama is shaping into one of Sri Lanka’s prominent coastal destinations, supported by the rise of surfing, wellness and nature-led travel. A beachfront resort in Sri Lanka’s Southern Province
Located in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka, Taj Weligama will be a beachfront resort offering sweeping views of the Indian Ocean. The resort will feature an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty restaurants, a beach bar and grill, a bar and lounge, and a deli.
Wellness, recreation, and event facilities
The resort will house Taj’s iconic J Wellness Circle, offering holistic remedies, along with a kids’ play room, an entertainment zone, a state-of-the-art gym, and a swimming pool.
For events and social gatherings, the hotel will offer a banquet hall and convention facilities spanning over 9,000 sq. ft., along with meeting rooms and exclusive lawns.
