Hilton announced the signing of Hilton Chennai Egmore, further strengthening its presence in Tamil Nadu and advancing its growth strategy in South India. Developed in partnership with MKR Estate Developers Private Limited, part of the MGM Healthcare Group, the hotel is expected to open in January 2029. This will expand the presence of Hilton’s flagship brand, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, in the city, joining Hilton Chennai.

Hilton leadership perspective

Clarence Tan, senior vice president, Development, Asia Pacific, Hilton, said: “Hilton Chennai Egmore represents our second Hilton Hotels & Resorts property in Chennai, underscoring the strong demand we see for our flagship brand in this region. The hotel has been designed to offer a thoughtfully designed mix of spaces, from expansive event venues to wellness and family-friendly amenities, meeting the needs of Chennai’s growing base for business and leisure travelers. With this hotel, we are proud to strengthen our presence in a city where Hilton has already built a strong reputation for quality hospitality.”

Guest rooms and amenities

The hotel will offer 195 guest rooms and suites, designed to blend Hilton’s world-class hospitality with thoughtful detail, providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for both business and leisure travelers.

Event spaces

With nearly 17,000 sq. ft. of event space, including two expansive ballrooms, a meeting room and a boardroom, Hilton Chennai Egmore will serve as a premium venue for corporate gatherings, conferences, and social celebrations in the city centre.

South Asia growth strategy

Zubin Saxena, senior vice president and country head, Hilton, South Asia, added: “The signing of Hilton Chennai Egmore is a significant step in strengthening our South India portfolio. Chennai is an anchor market for both business and leisure travelers, and this new property allows us to serve the city’s growing demand for elevated hospitality experiences at corporate and social events. We are proud to partner with MGM Healthcare Group to deliver Hilton’s world class service offerings in Egmore.”

MGM Healthcare perspective

M. K. Rajagopalan, Chairman, MGM Healthcare Group, said: “Our partnership with Hilton marks a significant step in shaping Egmore’s evolution as an urban hub. With Hilton’s global expertise and our vision for Egmore as an upcoming urban hub, we are confident this hotel will set a new benchmark in the city’s hospitality landscape and contribute meaningfully to Chennai’s continued growth.”

Hilton’s ambitious growth plans

With a robust portfolio of more than 65 trading and pipeline hotels across South Asia, Hilton is charting a bold growth trajectory in the region with the company on track to grow to 300 trading hotels in the next 10 years. Earlier this year the company announced plans to double its brand presence in India to broaden its customer offerings, tailored to the dynamic Indian market.
