Hilton Kathmandu Closed After Blaze in Nepal Protests
The Hilton Kathmandu, the tallest hotel in Nepal and a new name in the country’s luxury hotel scene, has closed after suffering heavy damage during Tuesday’s anti-corruption protests. Images of the building on fire have drawn worldwide attention and deeply affected Nepal’s hospitality industry.
Statement from Hilton
Confirming the closure, Zubin Saxena, Senior Vice President and Regional Head, South Asia, Hilton, said: “We can confirm that the property has closed following damage sustained during Tuesday’s protests. The safety and security of our guests and Team Members is always our top priority. Guests and Team Members were safely evacuated from the premises, and no injuries have been reported at this time.”
