Turkish hotel may sue JLo for $40 million

Jennifer Lopez’s decision to cancel a private concert for a Cyprus hotel for humanitarian reasons could cost her millions.

The singer had cancelled plans to celebrate her 41st birthday with a performance at the newly opened Cratos Premium hotel and casino on the island after thousands of people signed a petition begging her not to come.

Turkey invaded Cyprus in 1974 and still occupies a hotly disputed northern section of the Greek island territory. The hotel is located in the controversial Turkish sector.

The hotel management is calling foul and threatening to sue breach of contract. A representative for the Turkish-owned company said the hotel was prepared to ask for damages to the tune of $40 million.

A publicist for the singer confirmed the cancellation was political.
