Having ventured into premium grape brandy with JANUS and J in 2016 and having won a Bronze medal for JANUS at the ‘International Spirits Challenge 2016’, Sula Vineyards has now launched its first whisky, Eclipse. The cognac cask-aged beverage embodies Sula’s French spirit making heritage in selecting the best Indian grapes and best quality Scotch and grain.
Eclipse is made from selected grapes from Sula’s vineyards that is double-distilled in small batches using traditional French ‘Limousine Oak Cask’under the supervision of Sula’s master blender, Yogesh Mathur. This results in producing a liquor of great smoothness exuding a character of dried fruit, spices and vanilla. It comprises Malt Scotch from Scotland, or to be more precise 5-year old peated malt spirit from Loch Lomond Distillery goes into the blend.
Cecilia Oldne – VP Marketing and Global Brand Ambassador at Sula Vineyards said, “There is a reason to why our very first whisky was given the name Eclipse. The beautiful solar eclipse represents auspicious beginnings and protects your good fortunes and enhances opportunities in life. It is a big move for us at Sula to enter the world of whisky and we are super excited about it!”
“Eclipse is a whisky with a twist,” said Deepak Bhatnagar, President of Sales and Marketing at Sula Vineyards. “We wanted to offer something new and distinctive to our consumers that truly demonstrates the quality of well-aged whiskies. It has a smooth finish that is traditional yet modern, adding a sense of discovery for the whisky drinker.”
Yogesh Mathur, VP Manufacturing and Production, Artisan Spirits added, “It has been a meticulous task but it was worth all the efforts! Our blending team has worked together to create a remarkable blend which gives a sweetness and ease on the palate accompanied by a fruity and smooth finish that is traditional yet modern at the same time”
The bottle design is inscribed with the Eclipse logo set in the front of the bottle. The broad masculine makes it stand apart and easy to hold in one hand. All facets of the packaging honor the area it comes from while still presenting the simple and classy image. The look is set to appeal to a wider audience of emerging malt consumers who enjoy trying ‘The best’ in an urban social scene.”
