Hilton awards AT&T contract for internet-service

Hilton Worldwide has awarded AT&T a contract to run high-speed internet across its 3,200-strong hotel portfolio in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico according to a report in USA Today.

The arrangement will put AT&T in charge of Internet services for all of Hilton’s brands including Hilton, Waldorf Astoria, Doubletree, Embassy Suites and Homewood Suites. AT&T had already provided Hilton Worldwide with network equipment, design and installation since it started its “Stay Connected” program in 2005.

Hilton-brand hotels will gradually transition to AT&T’s Internet services over the coming months. Once a hotel makes the switch from the previous provider, guests who experience a problem will then call AT&T for help.
AT&T will also oversee network operations, network engineering, software development and 24/7 network monitoring for the hotels’ wi-fi and Internet services.
