Banarasidas Chandiwala IHMCT, New Delhi win Atithya 2017 Champion Trophy

The 9th edition of Atithya 2017 saw the participation of over 1,000 people comprising students, industry experts and guests. Spread across three days, this inter-collegiate fest was organized by AISSMS College of Hotel management at Pune. Banarasidas Chandiwala IHMCT, New Delhi won the ‘Atithya 2017 Champion Trophy’.

28 colleges from cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad, etc, competed with each other for the 25 trophies. The competitions were divided into four segments – Culinary competitions, F&B service competitions, Rooms division and Team competitions. Some of these challenges included Bakersville Cakesmith, Flair-o-logy Fluid Buffet to Kareer Krafters Fashion show of hotel uniforms.

Industry veterans who participated in the event included Chef Ravish Arora, director of Bakers Basket, Chef Vikas Bagul, cluster chef at JW Marriott, Prashant Argnur, beverage manager, Monin, Sebastian D’Souza, director beverages, JW Marriott, Pankaj Kamble from Flair-o-logy Bartending Academy, Navtej  Sahani, Director of Arthur’s Theme, Mark Philipose, executive sous chef Sheraton Grand Pune, Mandar Madav, executive chef, Hotel Conrad, etc.

The Event was inaugurated by Nishant Agarwal, general manager of Westin Pune Koregaon Park in the presence of Dr Sonali Jadhav, principal, AISSMS College of Hotel Management. Agarwal appreciated the efforts undertaken by the college and remarked that the participants were lucky to gain the exposure initiated the educational institute. The Chief Guest for Atithya 2017 Awards Night, Bakhtiar K. Dadabhoy, divisional railway manager- Pune Division of Central Railway, Shri Shahu Chhatrapati Maharaj Kolhapur presided over the event.

The evening unfolded into a grand gala dinner styled on the theme called ‘1947-A Food Story’, where the décor, entertainment and food took the guests through Indo- British cultures.
