The Mumbai-Goa rail route will now be covered within eight hours

Goa gets its first Vande Bharat Express which will run between Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Goa's Madgaon station

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off five Vande Bharat trains from Rani Kamalapati Railway Station in Bhopal. He also launched the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express virtually from Madhya Pradesh.

The high-speed train, which was initially slated to be launched on June 3, was delayed due to the accident in Odisha train accident. This is Goa’s first Vande Bharat Express and Maharashtra’s fifth.

It will run between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Goa’s Madgaon station and help in boosting tourism in the two states, said Indian Railways.

The 586 km train journey from Madgaon (junction) Station in Goa to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai took about 11-12 hours. However, the distance will now be covered by the Vande Bharat Express in just eight hours, said a statement by the Indian Railways.
