SriLankan Airlines has once again joined forces with the Gustav Mahler Society of Colombo (GMSC) to support the ‘Spring Concert,’ a significant cultural event in Sri Lanka. The concert, set to take place on 29 March 2025 at the Lionel Wendt Theatre, will feature prominent Sri Lankan classical guitarist Jude Peiris, along with esteemed Japanese artists Hiroshi Kogure and Miyuki Funatsu.

Tourism and Performing Arts

Dimuthu Tennakoon, Head of Commercial at SriLankan Airlines, highlighted the importance of performing arts in driving tourism to Sri Lanka. He emphasized, “The development of performing arts can significantly impact tourism, attracting travelers seeking cultural experiences. Music, theatre, and dance have immense potential to position Sri Lanka as a cultural destination.”

Deepal Perera, Manager of Corporate Communications at SriLankan Airlines, elaborated on the airline’s role in connecting Sri Lanka with the world. He noted, “This collaboration facilitates the exchange of musical talent and traditions. Srimal Weerasinghe, Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Gustav Mahler Orchestra of Colombo, praised SriLankan Airlines for its ongoing support, which began in 2023. He stated, “SriLankan Airlines has been integral to our success, supporting foreign professionals visiting Sri Lanka and enhancing the reputation of Sri Lankan orchestras globally.”
