The Indian Association of Amusement Parks and Industries (IAAPI) which is the apex body representing the interests of amusement parks, theme parks, water parks, snow parks, adventure parks, indoor amusement centres, and games zones in India organized Kerala Member Meet in Kochi. Kerala is a leading destination for the amusement park industry, having all major segments.
AI Shalimar, Director and Southern Region Chairman of IAAPI, said, “Amusement sectors on their own attract over 75 lakh visitors and are a major driver of domestic tourism in the state. A regional training programme was organized for the first time with live demonstrations on fire safety, first aid, and CPR by a trainer from the National Safety Council of India (NSCI). The trainer also highlighted the importance of lifeguards and water treatment in water parks. The objective was to improve service quality standards, guest relations, increase employee awareness, help retain talent, and boost the productivity of employees. The regional training received an overwhelming response from industry members, with over 80 delegates participating from across Kerala.
Maneesh Verma, Director and Membership Chairman, IAAPI, said that the objective of the meet was to connect with members from the state to understand core issues faced by the industry and take feedback and suggestions to represent them with respective ministries at the state and central governments. He highlighted various initiatives and activities undertaken by the association under its umbrella to promote the amusement and theme park industry as key drivers in developing domestic tourism in the country.
Members discussed improving quality services to guests, support of the state tourism board in promoting amusement parks and theme parks in the state’s promotion campaign, increasing member services, and promoting the amusement sector as a key driver in domestic tourism in the state.
