To treat a stranger as one of our own” — characterises the hospitality one can expect from Shangri-La. Discerning travellers enjoy world-class service amidst tranquil surroundings, coupled with inspirational architecture and design, but what makes each stay truly memorable is something even more exquisite and rare – Shangri-La’s special kind of hospitality – ‘Hospitality from the heart’.
Inspired by the legendary land featured in James Hilton’s 1933 novel, Lost Horizon, Shangri-La encapsulates the serenity and service for which our hotels are known worldwide. Author James Hilton introduced an enchanting and evocating story about the human quest for happiness and its consummation at a secret destination in the heart of Asia. This novel inspired the story of Shangri-La.
Shangri-La Eros, New Delhi, is situated in one of India’s largest financial, commercial and business districts. It is at the beating heart of the bustling capital, and offers 320 elegantly appointed rooms and suites.

Environmentally responsible
Shangri-La Group is committed to operating in an economically, socially and environmentally responsible manner. The two CSR programmes at the hotel levels – Embrace and Sanctuary – aim to promote education and the environment. Embrace- Shangri-La’s Care for People Project, looks at the highest level of education and health support needed in underprivileged communities. Sanctuary, Shangri-La’s Care for Nature project, promotes the conservation and restoration of biodiversity.
In April 2016, the hotel collaborated with a new Sanctuary project – Sankalp Taru, a non-profit organisation that initiates, develops and manages reforestation and environmental conservation projects around India, and the hotel actively participates in the plantation drive. They are working on the ‘Plastic-Free’ campaign to help reduce the hotel’s plastic footprint. The plastic-free program is also in line with Shangri-La’s key strategies to achieve excellence and to be committed to the environment through corporate social responsibility.
In addition, the hotel has also collaborated with The Noida Deaf Society, where a regular batch of 10 students are taken in and trained by a team of operational division heads on basic hospitality skills. Noida Deaf Society is the leading institution that nurtures, mentors, trains and teaches deaf children. NDS empowers the deaf community in India to lead sustainable and self-reliant lives through customised training and employment.
Their ongoing CSR initiatives include collaboration with Bal Sahyog, NGO working for child and youth development, active participation in the annual Cancer Support Walk, Earth Day, Pink October and more. The family has always been at the heart of Shangri-La, and we are honoured to be supporting Make-A-Wish International. The hotel has specially created restaurant experiences and dedicated ‘Make-A-Wish Come True’ stays and more; they hope to raise vital funds for the foundation.
‘Shangri-La Cares’
The hotel promise ‘Shangri-La Cares’ comes straight from the heart. It underpins the caring spirit of the brand and guides its unrelenting efforts to ensure the guests’ well-being and comfort. A series of safety standards and precautionary measures are also implemented as part of our ongoing efforts to create a trusted and nurturing environment for guests.
The protocols include: increased frequency and full attention to deep cleaning of all high-touch surfaces and areas used by guests throughout the hotel; use of medical grade sanitisers and disinfectants; increased cleaning frequency of air filters and air-conditioner systems to ensure optimal air quality; safe dining, meetings and events with extra precautions to respect physical distancing and enhanced food safety practices; caring for people is the bedrock of Shangri-La’s service value. To reinforce the strong health and safety culture, the hotel has enhanced training, learning and development resources for colleagues on essential preparatory and prevention measures. The colleagues are always equipped with personal protective equipment where necessary.
