“Be edgy, re-invent, have fun!”

… Is how Vishrut Gupta, General Manager, Novotel Mumbai International Airport, describes some of his work mantras.

A mentor, leader, and now a General Manager of the newly opened Novotel Mumbai International Airport, Vishrut Gupta on his journey so far…

20 years in hospitality:

“I have been fortunate to have great mentors, leaders and teams in every phase of my journey which has helped me grow in confidence to take on new responsibilities and expand my horizon. I have always firmly believed in two credos – God is in small details and learning never stops. However, one thing that has always stood out – is passion and care for our guests and our teams never go out of fashion; it is the focal epicentre of all that we do, always.”

Leadership qualities every hotelier should possess:

Empathy, love for hospitality, support and empower colleagues, be accessible to listen and provide advice and actively try to create possibilities for both personal and professional growth.

My relationship with my hotel:

“Seeing the hotel opening up and now growing and being appreciated by the guests who are coming in and experiencing the hotel and services gives one great satisfaction and reinfuses energy to take it to the next level. Having seen the hotel go through phases, tests and trials, getting decked up and right to the day of opening has been an exhilarating journey. A feeling of gratitude to the team who have worked with infectious energy and passion along with all stakeholders to open the hotel in record time.”

Vision in the next five years:

“The essence of the vision is to be the Best in Class hotel. Be edgy, reinvent ourselves, have fun along the way. Deliver market leading business results for stakeholders with a focus on the services and our people to create and enhance value.”
