Andaz Delhi, by Hyatt, is marking this World Environment Day by spotlighting its continued efforts in environmental stewardship. A proud recipient of the prestigious LEED Gold Level Certification, both Andaz Delhi and Hyatt Delhi Residences continue to lead the way in sustainable hospitality through pioneering initiatives that balance eco-conscious practices with modern luxury.
Innovative practices to reduce environmental impact
Over the years, Andaz Delhi has implemented several environmentally mindful practices to reduce carbon emissions and manage water use:
An on-site water bottling plant provides still and sparkling water in reusable glass bottles, eliminating single-use plastics and reducing carbon footprint. An automated wet garbage composting system converts organic kitchen waste into compost within 24 hours, which is used in the hotel’s landscaping.
Community partnerships for sustainability
As part of its community initiatives, Andaz Delhi partners with Enactus at Jesus & Mary College to support Project Iffat, a sustainable soap-recycling program. Lightly used soap bars from the hotel are repurposed by underprivileged women, reducing waste and providing a source of income. The recycled soaps are distributed at affordable prices in underserved communities through the Enactus network.
Energy-efficient operations and water conservation
Andaz Delhi sources 2% of its energy from solar power and 60% from hydro plants, reducing its carbon footprint. Ninety-eight percent of the lighting uses energy-efficient LED technology. As a Zero Discharge building, the hotel recycles 100% of its wastewater for landscaping, cooling towers, and gardens. High-efficiency chiller plants and air handling units help lower energy use.
Guest rooms have a smart system that adjusts electricity and air conditioning when unoccupied. Paraben-free wet amenities and non-plastic dry amenities are provided in all rooms.
Sustainable food philosophy at Andaz Delhi
AnnaMaya, the modern European food hall at Andaz Delhi, promotes mindful eating and conscious consumption. The restaurant focuses on sustainable sourcing, using artisanal, seasonal, and locally grown ingredients.
Both AnnaMaya and Soul Pantry offer plant-based and plant-forward menus aligned with global wellness trends. Soul Pantry highlights millets and incorporates them into innovative, nutrient-rich dishes. Andaz Delhi reduces food waste by donating surplus food through Robin Hood Academy, supporting the community. Plastic straws have been replaced with paper alternatives, following the hotel’s plastic-free policy.
Water conservation and ongoing efforts
To support long-term water conservation, the hotel has installed rainwater harvesting tanks, pits, and trenches. These systems prevent soil erosion and collect rainwater for reuse in various hotel operations.
