Agoda research reveals the power of localization in Asia’s hospitality boom

New report highlights how tailored strategies are driving guest satisfaction, loyalty, and revenue growth across Asian markets.

Agoda released new research highlighting how localization strategies are transforming Asia’s hospitality sector. The report, “Tailored to Win: How Hotels are Using Localization to Capture Asia’s Tourism Boom,” shows that hotels embracing advanced, integrated localization—across marketing, booking, payment, and on-site experiences—see measurable business benefits: higher guest satisfaction, increased repeat bookings, and greater willingness to pay among international travelers.

Insights from hoteliers across Asia

The research surveyed 526 hoteliers across 12 Asian markets, uncovering best practices for tailoring services to diverse traveler preferences, from language and currency to marketing channels and culturally relevant content. Hotels at the forefront of localization report 99% improved guest satisfaction, 95% higher repeat bookings, and 91% willingness to pay more per room.

Leadership perspective on localization as a strategic priority

“Localization isn’t just a trend. It’s a strategic imperative for hoteliers looking to thrive in Asia’s dynamic tourism market.” said Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President of Supply at Agoda. “To truly deliver measurable business results, hotels must approach tailoring strategies holistically, viewing language, payment systems, design and marketing as interconnected elements of the entire guest’s journey. It demands a shift in mindset from standardization to segmentation, and from mass communication to genuine cultural resonance.”
