Sukoon Retreat & Spa introduces traditionally made Uttarakhand oils

Newly opened Sukoon Retreat & Spa at Dakpathar in Dehradun has introduced traditional Uttarakhand Ayurvedic Oils at its Spa.

Made from locally made ingredients and traditional Uttarakhand based Ayurvedic recipes, these specially prepared local oils are known for offering relief from pain, skin, arthritis, hair and head related issues. Sukoon’s trained therapists then apply these oils as according to the procedure.

Given its close proximity to the Himalayas, Uttarakhand is known for its Ayurvedic and wellness practices. These oils are made by local residents with 20 years of experience, and are based on traditional recipes of Uttarakhand. All ingredients are ground on a grinding stone and cooked on slow flame for more than two to three days.

Manish Goyal, Founder of Stotrak Hospitality, said “We wanted to do something to support the local economy and community. Therefore, not only are we introducing Uttarakhand made traditional oils at our Spa, but, we also offer locally made organic food grown at our farms. Guests and themselves come and pluck their own food and give to our local chefs for customised meals.”

Located in the Himalayan foothills, Sukoon Retreat & Spa is spread over eight acres. It offers six cottages (semi tented, artfully crafted, with sit-outs, full of natural light and greenery), a spa, jacuzzi, steam cabin, infrared therapy room , indoor all-weather heated swimming pool, and fun time for children.

Bani Sharma, Founder  Sukoon Retreat & Spa said “We want to offer guests only organic things, from food to a authentic village experience to even our therapy oils. All this helps in creating an eco-friendly environment far away from the hustle and bustle of urban lifestyle at all our resorts. We want to give you open space, clean air, and the real experiential stays personalized for each guest.”

The resort’s 24 cover restaurant also serves local, Indian and select continental cuisine. Sukoon has a no-plastic policy. Apart from organic farming Sukoon Retreat & Spa, the kitchen waste at the resort is turned to compost for further use as manure. All soaps provided are carefully crafted handmade by women from local villages.
