What motivated you to return to Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, and how do you plan to leverage your past experiences to drive growth in the Eurasia region?

Re-joining was a natural decision, given my strong connection with the brand and its vision. My previous tenure allowed me to develop a deep understanding of our brand’s strengths, operational excellence, and the vast opportunities in the Eurasia market. With the region experiencing significant growth, I am eager to contribute to Wyndham’s continued expansion. By leveraging my past experiences, I aim to enhance relationships with hotel owners, improve operational efficiencies, and foster strategic partnerships. These efforts will help reinforce Wyndham’s leadership in the region while ensuring sustainable growth and value for our partners and guests. I look forward to driving impactful initiatives that support our long-term success.

With Wyndham’s strong presence in India and ambitious growth plans, what strategies will you focus on to achieve the projected 25% expansion in the next 18 months?

Wyndham’s expansion in India is driven by a clear strategy focused on market growth, brand strength, and franchisee relationships. As India remains a key market, we plan to expand in high-demand regions while increasing our presence in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Conversions will play a crucial role, allowing us to grow quickly with flexible operating models tailored to local needs. Strengthening brand visibility and providing strong commercial support will help our partners succeed. By closely collaborating with hotel owners and maintaining high service standards, we aim to accelerate growth and achieve our target of a 25% expansion in the next 18 months.

How do you plan to navigate the diverse cultural landscapes and varying market dynamics in countries like India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives to drive Wyndham’s growth across Eurasia?

Navigating the diverse markets of India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives requires a deep understanding of local trends and traveller preferences. Each country has distinct dynamics – India’s domestic tourism is expanding rapidly, while the Maldives thrives on luxury international travel. To drive Wyndham’s growth, we will adopt a market-specific approach, working closely with local partners, leveraging regional expertise, and customising our offerings to align with guest expectations. By blending Wyndham’s global hospitality standards with tailored strategies for each market, we aim to enhance our brand presence, strengthen relationships with stakeholders, and create exceptional experiences for travellers across the region.

Wyndham emphasizes an owner-first approach in its operations. Could you elaborate on how you plan to strengthen relationships with owners and partners in the region to ensure sustainable growth?

At Wyndham, our owners are crucial to our success, and strengthening these relationships is essential for sustainable growth. We are committed to providing strong operational and commercial support to help their hotels thrive. By utilising Wyndham’s global distribution network, revenue management expertise, and targeted marketing strategies, we aim to enhance their visibility and profitability. Regular engagement through owner forums, training sessions, and collaborative initiatives will ensure alignment with their business objectives. By fostering open communication and offering tailored solutions, we will create a strong foundation for long-term success, reinforcing Wyndham’s leadership in the region while delivering value to our partners.

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in the hospitality industry. What role do you see Wyndham playing in promoting sustainable practices across the Eurasian market, and how do you plan to integrate this into the company’s operations?

Sustainability is a key priority for Wyndham, and we are committed to driving responsible hospitality practices across the Eurasian market. Our focus is on implementing energy-efficient solutions, reducing waste, and promoting sustainable sourcing in our operations. Through the Wyndham Green Certification program, we will support our hotel owners in adopting structured sustainability measures that enhance efficiency while reducing environmental impact. Additionally, we plan to collaborate with local communities and stakeholders to introduce eco-friendly initiatives that align with regional needs. By integrating these practices into our operations, we aim to create a positive impact on both the environment and long-term business growth, ensuring that sustainability remains at the core of Wyndham’s expansion in Eurasia.

As a leader with over 25 years of experience, what do you believe are the key elements to delivering exceptional guest experiences in a rapidly evolving market like Eurasia?

In a fast-changing hospitality market like Eurasia, delivering exceptional guest experiences requires a balance of innovation and service excellence. Technology plays a crucial role in enhancing convenience, while sustainability is becoming a major factor in guest preferences. However, the foundation of great hospitality remains human connection. Empowering our teams through training and development ensures they provide warm, intuitive service that makes every stay memorable. By combining these elements (personalisation, technology, sustainability, and exceptional service), we can continue to set new benchmarks in guest satisfaction across the region.
