The world #1 Chef Mauro Colagreco and #1 restaurant Mirazur in Mumbai

Mirazur — in Menton on the French Riveira — is no stranger to culinary recognition; Chef Mauro Colagreco and his team made sure of that when they bagged the No.1 position as The World’s Best Restaurant 2019, arguably the most coveted accolade in the world of gastronomy. Mirazur’s essential quality is found at the crossroads of its several identities. The unique influences brought by the its Argentinian-Italian Chef, Mauro Colagreco’s background; his French training; and the restaurant’s location metres from the border between Italy and France, are all at the very core of what Mirazur stands for.

So, it was nothing short of an ‘epic’ moment when the man behind one of the world’s biggest culinary achievement served us with his presence at the Masters of Marriott event, in Mumbai which was a collaboration of Marriott International, Inc and Culinary Culture, India’s largest food platform. He was greeted at the Masters of Marriott event by distinguished food connoisseur Vir Sanghvi on March 6th, 2020. Colagreco was accompanied by a team from Mirazur.

In conversation with Vir Sanghvi, Chef Mauro Colagreco walked us through how he drew inspiration from his grandmother’s cooking and from the beauty of land around him, growing his own vegetables and working with local producers to source ingredients; making every dish on the Mirazur menu sublime, with the original taste of the products captured in all their natural beauty.

Talking about the exclusive dining experience, Chef Mauro Colagreco said, “I feel very honoured to be coming to Mumbai to cook. India has always been a very special destination for me: the diversity of its cuisine and products, the richness of its culture, the kindness of its people. I feel happy to be able to share my cuisine with such an exciting culture. Thank you all for welcoming me!”

Commenting on the association with Chef Mauro Colagreco, Neeraj Govil, Senior Vice President, Marriott International, South Asia, said, “We are delighted to welcome the immensely talented and world renowned, Chef Mauro Colagreco from Mirazur – ‘The world’s Best Restaurant’ through Masters of Marriott, on his maiden visit to India.
