On the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day, Crowne Plaza Today Gurugram organized ‘Splashing Colors’, an art exhibition to showcase the masterpieces created by Pranav. The event was aimed to raise public awareness and create a strong voice advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down syndrome.
10-year old Pranav loves to play with colors in unconventional ways. He finds brushes boring and enjoys painting with his fingers, paper, sponge and other everyday things. He loves to play with color and water.
When he was 6, during his Occupational Therapy (OT) classes, a new art educator conducted a trial painting session. His parents, Rashmi and Nitin, were a little sceptic and not sure if it would be of any benefit. To their amazement, Pranav used his fingers perfectly to create something magical. The trial class was a new found joy for him, which gave his parents an encouragement and set the seeds for the extraordinary talent of Pranav. He has participated in many National and International Art Exhibitions and he was the youngest artist at Deep Down Arts Exhibition, Mexico.
“People with Down syndrome across world face stigmatization, abuse and lack of support. Too often, their challenges begin early in life when they are excluded from quality education systems. Adequate access to health care, early intervention programs and inclusive education, as well as appropriate research, are vital to the growth and development of individuals with Down syndrome. Therefore, with 3 day art exhibition ‘Splashing Colors’, we aim to raise awareness and encourage all of you to do the same,” stated the GM of the property.
