MEWA 2024, India’s foremost B2B exhibition for nuts and dried fruits, had a captivating panel discussion and culinary show, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the diverse flavors of India’s nut and dry fruit offerings. The first day of the event concluded with a gala dinner offering participants a conducive environment for networking and forging valuable connections, complemented by a scintillating performance by renowned artist Shalmali Kholgade.
Addressing the exhibitors during the inauguration of the trade show, Om Birla, Lok Sabha speaker, commended the efforts of Nuts and Dry Fruits Council India (NDFCI) and underscored the transformative role of platforms like MEWA 2024 in fostering the growth and consolidation of the sector. He emphasized the urgent need to bolster the production of nuts and dry fruits in India, noting that the sector provides employment to over 10 lakh individuals and is growing at a CAGR of 13-15%. Recognizing the potential for export growth, he affirmed that the government of India is actively pursuing tech-enabled agritech solutions to enhance farmers’ productivity. He urged associations like NDFCI to increase the interaction with the farmer groups to explore the possibility of cultivating nuts and dry fruits as per the various Indian state’s diverse climate conditions.

Delving into the heart of industry insights, MEWA 2024 hosted power-packed knowledge sessions focusing on the key players in the market, including pistachios, almonds, dates, raisins, and walnuts. Esteemed panels engaged in dynamic discussions unravelling global market dynamics, consumer trends, and sustainable practices shaping the industry’s landscape.
Speaking during the event Gunjan Jain, President of NDFCI, highlighted the evolving consumer preferences and the growing demand for exotic dry fruits among health-conscious Indians.
