Sorgam, A quirky restaurant design focusing on heavenly ambience

Designed by Roaish Architecture + design, this 2600 sq ft restaurant in Chennai was curated to give the user a space to forget the rest of the world while enjoying their meal

From the road you can see the rugged exterior and our element of attention - A free standing 5' antique teak wood door as the compound of the property. 

Roaish Architecture + design (pronounced as Roy-sh) was founded two years ago by Ar. Aishwarya Krish, starting from a team of one to now a team of 9 young and talented architects and Interior designers. They take pride in announcing we are a women run organization and have multiple completed projects and currently doing 15 active projects across Chennai. These projects vary from Residential, Commercial, Retail and Hospitality. Our vision is to bring in affordable and minimal design.

They were recognized for our work early this year and given an award as the most emerging and trendsetting Architects and interior designers 2022, India, by the national association.

About the project

Sorgam is a 2600 sq ft restaurant located in the calm residential area of Gandhi Nagar, Adyar, Chennai. A rebranding of the popular restaurant Crimson Chakra, “Sorgam” which means heaven in tamil, focuses on a traditional menu and a heavenly ambience. Each element and detail were curated for the purpose of giving the user a space to forget the rest of the world and enjoy a scrumptious meal.

A minimal yet vibrant theme across making it a heavenly space, ” Sorgam” which means Heaven in Tamil. From the road you can see the rugged exterior and our element of attention – A free standing 5′ antique teak wood door as the compound of the property. 
Further into the space you can see the pastels color come into play bringing about a tranquil environment.

They also curated Banana leaf designs, which is an important element of South Indian culture.
An Arch is a discipline that focuses on enhancing a transition space from one area to the next seamlessly.

An Arch is a discipline that focuses on enhancing a transition space from one area to the next seamlessly using creativity and we have used them generously.  They also curated Banana leaf designs, which is an important element of South Indian culture. Minimal leaves cut out and finished with Duco paint. 

The experience of the restaurant is to be seated in a calming ambience with finger licking South Indian food.
