Hotel impact limited in Jet Airways’ illness

With guests switching to other airlines, Jet Airways’ pilot ‘strike’ is having a limited impact on hotels.

“We anticipated the situation, but guests who had to travel, travelled with some other airline,” said Mukesh Kumar, general manager, Ramada Plaza Palm Grove, Mumbai.

Even though revenues are strained, hotels are not exercising the no-show penalty for the few guests who could not check-in.

Jet Airways is unsure if the strike will continue into Wednesday. A call to their help centre got a standard reply that the airline could not comment on the following day’s schedule. Travel agents meanwhile are not taking bookings for Jet Airways, instead encouraging travellers to take other carriers where possible.

Meanwhile, hotels hope the mass illness that has come over the Jet pilots passes soon before it begins to affect occupancy.
