Four seasons plans 6-7 hotels in India

In the next three-four years, one of out every five Four Seasons Hotels in the world could open in India and China, reflecting the luxury hotel brand’s future growth shifting from North America.

The company currently operates 85 hotels across 35 countries with about half of them located in North America. “We see tremendous potential in countries like India and China because of their growing affluence, economic growth and the opportunities available in business and leisure tourism,” said Scott Woroch , executive vice president -worldwide development of the company.

The Canadian luxury hotel company expects to operate six to seven hotels in India in the next ten years from the currently operational one hotel in Mumbai. In China, it runs four hotels and will double the number of hotels by next year taking the total tally to 12.

The company currently has its second hotel being built in Bangalore and recently announced another hotel in Noida, which will be operational by 2014.
