Minimalist Hotels strengthened its presence in the holy city of Varanasi with the official opening of its second property on 15th June 2025. The new hotel, Minimalist Hotel: The Varanasi Edit, addresses the growing demand for premium, design-forward stays in one of India’s most visited spiritual destinations.

Strategic location and expansion rationale

Strategically located in DIG Colony, just 2 km from the brand’s first property in the city, the hotel offers 24 thoughtfully designed rooms that cater to the evolving needs of both domestic and international travellers. This expansion was driven by overwhelming guest demand at the original Varanasi location and reflects the company’s focus on deepening its footprint in high-growth urban markets.

Founder’s perspective on regional demand

“Our first hotel in Varanasi saw consistent high occupancy, especially during spiritual and cultural seasons,” said Gautam Munjal, Founder of Minimalist Hotels. “Opening a second property allowed us to better serve guests while reinforcing our commitment to the region’s hospitality landscape.”

Blending minimalism with modern comfort

The second property blends modern infrastructure with minimalist aesthetics, offering a peaceful yet functional stay. It also features a 50-seater casual dining restaurant cum pizzeria, providing a curated culinary experience. Its close proximity to major cultural and spiritual attractions adds to its appeal for leisure travellers and pilgrims alike.

Timely launch for peak tourism season

“The launch came just ahead of the anticipated increase in travel during events like the Kumbh Mela,” added Munjal. “This timing allowed us to meet the rising demand and further cement our position as a premium yet approachable hospitality brand.”
