The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has announced the appointment of Serene Woon as the Area Director-Designate for India, Middle East, and South Asia (Mumbai) on 1st May 2025. Woon will officially assume the full director role on 1st July 2025, bringing her wealth of experience to enhance STB’s destination marketing in these regions.
A Decade of Expertise with STB
With over ten years of experience at STB, Woon has held significant roles, including Area Director for South Korea and Malaysia. In these positions, she played a key role in market growth, leading STB’s branded entertainment initiatives and expanding the Board’s presence in Greater Busan and East Malaysia.
She most recently served as Deputy Director at Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), contributing to the strategic policy shaping for Singapore’s border reopening after the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to her new role, she was also Deputy Director of Strategic Planning at STB, where she worked on the Tourism 2040 strategy for Singapore’s tourism growth.
Strategic Vision for India’s Outbound Travel Market
Commenting on her appointment, Serene Woon shared about taking on this role at such a pivotal moment for India’s outbound travel market. She expressed that India’s cultural diversity and growing global influence make it a key focus for STB. Together with her team and partners, Woon is eager to strengthen the ties between Singapore and Indian travellers, continuing to build on STB’s established success in the region.

He highlighted that India holds immense potential for STB as one of its key markets. Woon’s deep understanding of modern traveller preferences will bring valuable perspectives to strengthen Singapore’s relationships with Indian travellers.
