Mindful sustainability is JW Marriott Pune’s guiding light, illuminating all its business practices. This is most evident in its F&B operations, where it uses organic produce and works closely with local suppliers to reduce its overall carbon footprint.

Chef Anurag Narsingani, Executive Chef, JW Marriott Pune believes that this approach is essential to maintaining an ecological balance, so that the world does not run out of resources and neither is the environment harmed. Since hotels generate lots of waste, this property has trained its sights on prudent waste management.

While eliminating waste is next to impossible, JW Marriott Pune has taken steps to reduce it and manage it better. “This starts with waste segregation at source. Post this, the dry garbage is disposed judiciously, while the wet waste is earmarked for composts,” he stated.

He added that JW Marriott Pune is the only hotel in the city to have a bottling plant onsite. This helps in water conservation, especially as the property has shifted to glass bottles to eliminate the use of plastic. The hotel will also set up a JW Marriott garden, which will provide organic fruits and vegetables to meet a certain percentage of the property’s culinary needs.

The hotel’s ethical underpinnings coupled with its environmentally conscious ethos, has resulted in several other practices including eco-friendly packaging and mindful sourcing practices. What’s more, most of these do not cost a package and can actually save JW Marriott Pune a tidy sum in the long run.
