Rajesh Rana has been appointed as the Director (Commercial & Marketing) of India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. He assumed office on March 17 and will serve as a member of the Board of Directors.
A Journey of Over Two Decades in Hospitality
With a career spanning more than 26 years in the hospitality industry, Rana brings extensive expertise in catering, tourism, marketing, and business operations. He began his professional journey as a Management Trainee with the Jaypee Group of Hotels before transitioning to THDC India Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU).
Pioneering Contributions at IRCTC
In 2005, Rana joined IRCTC, where he played a crucial role in shaping its hospitality and tourism initiatives. Over his 19-year tenure, he held key positions across Regional, Zonal, and Corporate Offices, rising through the ranks to General Manager. His expertise spans catering, tourism, operations, marketing, and management.
Strategic Leadership and Risk Management
Rana has demonstrated strong strategic leadership and risk management capabilities, significantly contributing to business growth in the hospitality, tourism, and railway catering sectors. Before taking on his current role at ITDC, he served as General Manager at IRCTC’s Corporate Office in New Delhi, where he also held the critical responsibility of Chief Risk Officer (CRO).
Academic Excellence and Industry Expertise
A distinguished alumnus of the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Lucknow, Rana also holds an MBA in Marketing. His extensive experience and leadership acumen position him well to drive ITDC’s commercial and marketing strategies forward.
