Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Goa, to establish the country’s largest hospitality skilling centre in Goa.
This collaboration aims to boost employment opportunities for the youth in the state and enhance the local tourism sector. The signing ceremony was attended by the Honourable Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, and senior government officials.
Commitment to Skill Development
Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO of IHCL, expressed the company’s commitment to Goa’s hospitality landscape, highlighting their pioneering leadership in the state for over five decades. The skilling centre, part of IHCL’s ESG+ framework (Paathya), aims to bridge the employability gap by providing a skilled workforce to support Goa’s thriving tourism industry.
Government Support
Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, acknowledged Goa’s status as a premier leisure destination and welcomed IHCL’s initiative, which will open new employment avenues for local youth. He emphasized the importance of sustainable tourism and highlighted the collaboration as a significant step toward the state’s growth and advancement in the tourism sector.
Focus on Tailored Training Programs
The proposed skilling centre will offer specialized training programs in hospitality, covering key areas such as front office, housekeeping, food production, and food and beverage service. In addition to these foundational programs, the centre will also provide industry-based internships, allowing participants to gain practical experience in real-world corporate environments.
IHCL’s ESG+ Commitment
Under its Paathya framework, IHCL continues to lead in developing talent pools and investing in youth development across India. With 47 existing skilling centres, IHCL aims to contribute to the sustainable growth of the hospitality industry by equipping young individuals with the necessary skills to thrive in the sector.
