The hotel industry is constantly changing, and so is the demand for renovated properties. The Lemon Tree Hotel Vadodara is one such property that Muskaan Parikh Design Studio, a boutique interior design firm based in Mumbai, recently refurbished.
Design Philosophy
“We believe that a good hotel interior design should never outweigh function, especially in the guest rooms,” says Muskaan Parikh, Founder & Principal Designer of MPDS. Embracing this philosophy, the rooms were designed integrating comfort, practicality, and aesthetics.

Utmost attention was given to every conceivable detail, incorporating multiple perspectives such as guest comfort, operational efficiency, and low maintenance. Consequently, this dictated the design language and choice of materials employed.
Material Choices and Functional Design
For example, the wooden flooring was replaced with stone plastic composite for its durability and water resistance. Glass lamps were replaced with metallic ones to minimize breakage. Upholstery was selected keeping in mind ease of day-to-day maintenance.

Contemporary, light-toned furniture made the rooms feel airy and spacious. A cool colour like green was chosen to promote relaxation and calm. All this while keeping in mind the hotel’s brand identity and positioning in the market.

Challenges and Execution
“To achieve all this in a cost-effective way with a pre-existing layout was the biggest challenge,” says Parikh. The goal was to consistently prioritize the guest experience throughout the process by adopting a customer-centric approach that put the needs and overall experience of the guests at the forefront of the decision-making. This was done by planning the renovation in phases to minimize disruptions and maintain operational efficiency. The rooms were outfitted one floor at a time rather than closing the entire hotel.

A Fresh Take on the Lemon Tree Brand
While retaining the same freshness and energy that the Lemon Tree brand is known for, the upgraded rooms at the Lemon Tree in Vadodara take the zing up a notch, leaving you feeling as fresh as a lemon.
